2021 saw the birth of 352 new establishments, that is, 13.2% more than in 2020 (+10.7% in Charente-Maritime), while another 177 were born from January to May 2022. Services remain very represented with 144 new boxes (41%) , of which 22 are related to food delivery by bicycle, with Uber Eats and Deliveroo in particular. 114 new businesses have been opened (32%), half of which are non-sedentary or sell online. The territory also registered 35 creations under construction; 34 in accommodation and restaurants (including 20 in fast food and only five in traditional); 24 in industry, water and energy; and only one in agriculture. “For online sales, home delivery and fast food, it’s huge and it distorts the numbers,” said Muriel Robin, who profiled the new entrepreneurs: people who came from all over France to change their lives. .
