After two staggered programs due to the health crisis, World Environment Day will be celebrated in Luxeuil-les-Bains, on Sunday June 5, around the La Poche pond. A new event in harmony with nature, at the initiative of the City and the Luxovian association Links, with the final bouquet of two concerts with reggae accents and a headliner: Tiken Jah Fakoly. The artist Morik will secure the first part.
The thirst for freedom and change
True standard bearer of an African youth whose thirst for freedom and change carries high, the Ivorian Tiken Jah Fakoly is the author of a committed discography on stage and on the ground. The artist conquered his native country before embarking on an international career that led him to collaborate with the greatest: Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare, Zebda, Steel Pulse, Bernard Lavilliers… In the space of ten albums he built a subtle mix of arrogance and enameled music of sensational statements about international politics. Threatened, he was forced into exile for speaking too loudly. In his latest album “The world is hot” released in 2019, the singer is committed to the climate. The first title of the same name, performed in a duet with the French rapper Soprano, denounces political inaction in the face of climate change.
Creole and French lyrics
Guadeloupean Morik will take the stage at 8:30 p.m. and should quickly warm up the audience through his mixed melodies with accents of reggae, ragga, gwoka, sprinkled with words in Creole and French. With his musicians, last year he performed the first part of Flo Delavega and Tryo. Defending the planet, living together better, the environment are issues that are very dear to him.
Environmental information stands
But before strutting, visitors will be able to amuse themselves throughout the afternoon, around various information booths to raise awareness about the environment, producers and events. Games for children are provided. “We are testing and if it works well, this meeting will have to last. It is also an opportunity to animate this sector of the city”, confesses the mayor, Frédéric Burghard.
